Congratulations To Bob Douce, the 2012 Bud Shootout Winner!
Although the Budweiser Shootout is a non-points exhibition event it is the only other race that members must qualify for besides the All-Star race. The winning driver gets a certain prestige by becoming the first winner of the season and also receives a nice trophy on their page. In addition the winner also receives a free entry to the first segment of the money pit. Everyone wants to give their season a nice kick start before the Daytona 500 so this race is very important.

The process to qualify for the Shootout has changed in Lucky Dog Racing over the years. The first race was held in 2005 and only served as a pre-season race for everyone in the league. That format would hold until the 2009 season when members had to pick at least 5 polesitters in the season to make the race. In 2010 the pole count was increased to 7 to trim the field a bit. That season NASCAR changed their qualifying method and Lucky Dog Racing followed suit for the 2011 season.
