2007 Season
![]() The LROC Series took on a new look as it welcomed P10 Select to replace The Cool Pool who declined to return. The series format changed as well… with the IROC series not returning, the LROC series would use 12 different races of a Cup, Busch, Truck, Indy and Formula One mixture. There were other new additions that cam to fruition for the first time in 2007. During the off-season, Lucky Dog Racing created its own myspace page where members could find out more about the different leagues. Vice President Matt Sealey would maintain the site. Different news articles would be added as well as a team spotlight each week. Matt would also head up the Victory Junction Gang camp donation process. Three times out of the year, the league would give to the camp as it collected donations from various league members. In its first year, the league would donate a total of $477.00. The Chaser Eraser was a new contest added this year for the 12 Chase teams to take part in. Each week those teams would select 2-3 drivers… one would give points while the other would be eliminated. The winner of the contest at the end of the chase would get a spot in the LROC Series, an award on their page and win a free year in the league. Lefflerfan held on in the final week to win this game. Lucky Dog Racing had its various series but it also added an unofficial additional series as well by creating the Yahoo Group. Anyone could play in Lucky Dog’s group on Yahoo’s fantasy racing. It allowed members that were on the waitlist for the Cup series a chance to play against everyone. Even people that weren’t in any series could take part in it. The winner of the group would get a spot in the LROC series and a trophy on their page as well. Lucky Dog Racing’s own Daniel Schmittou won the title in impressive fashion. Finally a little later in the year, the Streak to the Finish game was added. This contest was played strictly in Lucky Dog’s forums. It encouraged members to visit the forums on a weekly basis. It also gave the winner a spot in the LROC series along with a $25.00 gift certificate to NASCAR.com. The president was lucky enough to be the eventual winner of this contest. With all the new changes and additions for the new season, it was finally time to get things underway. After Rednex Motorsports won the Budweiser Shootout in his first start, another new team, Earnhardt Junkie, won the prestigious Daytona 500. Unfortunately for him, it would be the only race that he’d win for the season. Many different teams won throughout the year, nobody could really rack up a bunch of wins like previous years. Many teams shared the wealth in 2007 including some veteran teams who broke long winless streaks. Some veteran teams who were in the league in the 2004 season had a breakout season like Syracuse Alpine Racing and Shawnda’s Redneck Racing. There was also a strong rookie class with five of those teams eventually making the chase. None of them were stronger than Team Bow Tie who would eventually go on to the Cup championship and rookie of the year. Other rookie teams like JG24BD, Dino’s Racing and Hendrickcrew gave him a run for the money though. Over in the Busch series, Dino’s Racing would take a commanding league and eventually win the championship. The “veteran” rookie team Green Flag Racing took rookie of the year titles. The Truck series was a lot more closer but in the final weeks, Feiltheneedforspeed would hold on to take the first championship there. Meanwhile, over in the LROC series, Lucky Dog Racing once again fell to its competitor as P10 Select won the matchup between the two leagues. Their driver Mark Blose took the season championship and the $25.00 winnings. During the summer months, a new concept was developed that would introduce teammates in the Cup series. Player would be able to run together in multi-car teams and their teammates scores would affect their own in the standings. After the planning for the new format which would take place the following team, 7 multi car teams were formed. 2008 will have a much different look with the new teams. In addition, a new scoring system was developed which benefits those drivers that finish above 20th place with more points. The fifth season for Lucky Dog Racing looks bright as the league continues to grow stronger with each passing year.
